Dr Subir Mukherjee, the HEKSS Associate Dean for Secondary Care, leads the HEKSS SAS Committee. As such, he has overall responsibility for the delivery of career and professional support for the SAS doctors working in the trusts within HEKSS.
The actual provision of this support includes:
- Utilising the development fund
- Working with the SAS tutor within each trust, to enable SAS doctors to enhance their careers as well as their generic knowledge and skills in leadership and clinical teaching etc., as part of their professional clinical practice.
Dates of SAS committee meetings
Committee membership includes the SAS tutor from each trust (see here for details). SAS tutors are consultants or associate specialists, who have responsibility in delivering educational and professional support locally and often chair the local SAS faculty group. The local SAS faculty group assists with day-to-day decision making and liaises with HEKSS on specific support required.
